A mechanic once told me “kid, at these events there are three types of stories: first, the ones you listen too. Second, the ones you tell and finally the ones that are told about you.” At the 2024 IUEC Local 17 Retiree’s Dinner there were a lot of all three.
With about 60 active members and retirees at the event, there was a sampling of freshly minted first year apprentices and those retired before those apprentices were born. Fathers, sons, cousins, life long friends; all union Brothers celebrating those on whose shoulders we stand to see just that little bit further than we could before.
Cold beer and good conversations flowed through the night and when it was all over, there were even more stories to tell.
